Your first visit

Three steps to the club room

1

Get in touch

Use the form below or email the club. Tell us a little about what you model, or what you’d like to try, and we’ll suggest a good Wednesday to come along.

2

Come along on a Wednesday

We’ll send directions to the club room near Broughton. Someone will meet you, show you round the layouts and introduce you. Bring a loco along if you like.

3

Try three nights, free

Join in with whatever’s on: building, operating, Show and Tell or a talk. If you’d like to become a member after that, we’ll talk you through how it works.

Who joins

Whatever you model, and however much you know

Our members come from Winchester, Romsey, Chandlers Ford and across West Hampshire. Some have been modelling for fifty years; others joined with a box of ready-to-run and a lot of questions. You’ll fit in if you’re:

  • new to the hobby, or coming back to it after a long break
  • an experienced modeller in any scale, from T and N to O and narrow gauge
  • happier wiring, painting, coding or planning than running trains
  • keen to see your work at exhibitions, or just to have somewhere to run it

We run analogue and DCC, steam-era and modern image, and everything in between.

Membership

What being a member means

A club room of your own

Members can use the club room at other times as well as on Wednesdays, with OO and O gauge layouts permanently up.

Layouts to run and build

Operate Redbridge Wharf and Abbotstone, test your own stock, and help build Eastleigh, our next exhibition layout.

Shows, talks and trips

Help operate our layouts at exhibitions, hear outside speakers, and join visits like our recent tour of Eastleigh Arlington Fleet Services.

Good company

Show and Tell evenings, the quarterly Chairman’s Chatter, an annual dinner and trophies, and plenty of tea and conversation.

Questions

Good to know

No. The club layouts are there for members to run and work on, and plenty of members joined with nothing more than enthusiasm. If you do have stock, bring it along to test.

Absolutely. Between us we’ve built just about everything, from baseboards to brass locos, and members are always happy to share what they know. The new test track is a good place to learn DCC, track laying and wiring.

All sorts: T, N, P4, EM, OO, O and NG7, from pre-grouping to the present day. The club layouts are OO (Redbridge Wharf) and O (Abbotstone), and Eastleigh will be N gauge.

Near the village of Broughton in the Test Valley, an easy drive from Winchester, Romsey, Stockbridge and Andover. We’ll send full directions when you arrange your visit.

Your first three club nights are free. If you decide to join, we’ll explain the annual subscription and how the club is run when you visit.

Sorry, we’re not able to help with disposing of layouts or stock.
